The TechTeens program is designed to help participants develop an understanding of and an appreciation for technology particularly in its application for learning. Program beneficiaries are between 13 and 19 years old. Because technology is not an integral part of the educational curriculum in most public schools, millions of young people still lag behind in skill level when compared with their digital peers in more developed nations. The objectives of the TechTeens program are to:
Courses offered at this level include Computer Fundamentals, Word Processing Fundamentals, Spreadsheet Fundamentals, Database Fundamentals and Presentation Fundamentals. Students work together to create projects and solve problems. Students may snap away with a digital camera and learn to use a scanner, then download to a computer and modify the images to create a custom slide show, or create Internet web pages, learning and using word and excel documents, compose emails, print digital photos and more. |
