  • In 2008, YTF's Owerri Digital Village partnered with the Imo State Job Center to register unemployed youth, provide them with employability and life skills, and connect them to local employers.

  • In 2008, YTF began a partnership program with U.S. based non-profits and/or community technology and learning centers to help deepen our impact in low-income communities. YTF works with 42 local agencies and non-profits focused on youth, education and technology in the U.S. to distribute computers and technology supplies to low income families and disadvantaged communities.

  • In 2008, YTF participated in a cross-cultural education program between the students of St. Anthony's Elementary School in Long Beach, California and students enrolled at the Owerri Digital Village, Nigeria. To date, 40 students have participated in the program designed to use an online training onsite education model to learn about each other's culture, country, history and topics that are most prevalent in their communities.

  • In 2007, YTF established its first community technology and learning center in Uganda, the Sironko Digital Village. This center is staffed by dedicated volunteers and serves community members and schools in Budadiri. One of the first projects that students from the Sironko Digital Village embarked on was to design and produce a report card for a local primary school in the village.

  • In 2007, the YTF family adopted, trained and shared best practices with two young people from Cameroon. As a result of this experience, YTF will partner with the people of Ewelle, Cameroon to establish the Ewelle Digital Village in 2009. In addition to technology training, the center will offer entrepreneurship training and hold monthly career workshops for youth in the community.

  • In 2007, YTF was recognized by the United Nations Online Volunteer Services as a Volunteer Team of the Year Recipient for the effective use of online international volunteers. Online volunteers have been a part of YTF since our inception and most recently formed a strategic team to aid YTF in the successful replication of our community technology and learning center model in Uganda.

  • In 2006, YTF was a finalist in the Yeoman's Award for Local Content recognizing YTF's work in the Youth Science and Health Tele-Academy, a program designed to equip youth with the technology tools to be effective rural information workers through effectively researching, documenting and disseminating information on issues in their community. Focus was on health issues such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and water borrne diseases.

  • In 2006, Media Education expert Irving Lee Rother, from McGill University, visited the ODV.

  • In 2005, United Nations Information Technology Services (UNITeS), Charles Galusha and Resty Mwogeza completed an internship at the Owerri Digital Village.

  • In 2005, YTF was invited to present our work at the World Summit on Information Technology Society in Tunisia.

  • In 2004, YTF received a World Bank (Small Grants Program, Nigeria) Grant recognizing our work at the Owerri Digital Village.

  • In 2004, YTF's Owerri Digital Village hosted 2 volunteers from Microsoft Corporation in Redmond.

  • In 2003, YTF held its first fundraiser in the United States at the University of Washington. The theme was "YTF - Making Dreams a Reality."

  • In 2003, YTF partnered with Rotary International and Teachers without Borders to collect, refurbish and ship technology equipment to the Owerri Digital Village.

  • In 2002, YTF received a Social Enterprise Partnership award from Digital Partners for our work with community technology. YTF was invited to present our work to a social venture panel at the Baramati ICT conference in India.

  • In 2002, YTF's work was recognized at the annual Microsoft Community Affairs Banquet in Redmond, Washington.

  • In 2001, YTF's innovative programs began at the Owerri Digital Village in Southeastern Nigeria.
